Racing day success for Runnymede Rockets

THE BMX world took over Addlestone Moor on Easter Sunday with 275 riders visiting the recently refurbished Brackendene track for an important race meeting.

Runnymede Rockets hosted round two of the South Summer Series, which is an important competition contributing to the overall ranking of the best riders and teams in the south east.

The racing was frenzied with eight riders in each race sprinting around the dirt track which was rebuilt thanks, in part, to the help of Chertsey Rotary Club.

Chairman of Runnymede Rockets, Tony Horan, said: "We had a massive turnout with 275 riders taking part and all in all there were probably about 600 people down at the track. That's about the average for a regional meeting.

"All of our hard work on the track has paid off and we had massive compliments from everyone. Everything went smoothly on the day."
