Chertsey children enjoy day of Olympic games

INSPIRED by the impending visit of the world's greatest athletes, children in Chertsey enjoyed a day of mini-Olympics last week.

Dozens of youngsters crammed in for a Fun Zone event at St Ann's Primary School in Free Prae Road where they did their best to emulate basketball hero LeBron James and tennis champ Roger Federer as they were given lessons in basketball and tennis, as well as other sports.

Natalie Clarke, leisure development officer at Runnymede Borough Council, helped organise the event, with the aid of funding from the Egham-based firm Procter & Gamble.

Natalie said: "The Fun Zone activities were really popular this Easter.

"Thanks to the generosity of Procter & Gamble's £10,000 grant, we were able to provide a variety of activities for young people in the borough."
